Your Wish Is Our Command… The Gospel Choir Are Back!
In 2018, the Stag Theatre’s production of Dick Whittington was the only pantomime in the country to feature its very own Gospel Choir. Audience reactions were overwhelming, and countless reviews and comments were sent into producers, asking for their return.

Well, your wish is our command. Aladdin will feature the return of the gospel choir, by way of five of the world’s most in demand vocalists.
Wendi Harriot, playing the Empress of China, has sung regularly with some of the biggest artists in the world, including John Legend, Nicole Sherzinger, Lulu, Rebecca Ferguson, Beverly Knight, The Killers, 30 Seconds To Mars, Rita Ora, Ce Ce Peniston, Kesha, Demi Lovato, Jennifer Hudson, and Sir Tom Jones. Most recently Wendi was a guest singer, performing at Peter Andre’s O2 show.
If Sharlene Hector’s face looks familiar it may be because you recognise her from Coca-Cola’s I Wish ad campaign, singing Nina Simone’s Jazz classic, I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free. As well as performing on TV shows such as X Factor, Jonathan Ross and Later with Jools Holland, supporting the likes of Michael Bublé, Katherine Jenkins and Muse, Sharlene has also recorded backing vocals for Clean Bandit, Rag And Bone Man, Primal Scream and JP Cooper. Sharlene is a regular performer at the world renowned Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London’s Soho.
Celestina Diamond can currently been seen as a judge on BBC’s All Together Now. She has worked as a backing vocalist sharing the stage with some of the world’s most prominent artists including Madonna, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson (The Voice), Boyzone and Alfie Boe, in some of the most prestigious venues such as the O2 Arena, The Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena. In 2017 Celestina went on tour with Sister Act Live as a lead vocalist, performing tracks from the popular 1992 movie.
Simon King Simon’s career highlights include providing studio-recorded backing vocals for the many contestants each week on both The X Factor UK and The X Factor US Live Shows. In 2010 he was proud to be asked to work with one of his favourite artists, Stevie Wonder, singing backing vocals for Wonder’s headlining appearance at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and concerts in London’s Hyde Park and Manchester Arena. Most recently Simon performed alongside Beverley Knight at the London Palladium in a tribute to Stevie Wonder, which was recorded for the BBC.
Jason Nicholson Porter has been a singer songwriter for over 28 years, and was winner of the Hackney Empire Friday Night Live show as Act of the Season. His recent credits include singing backing vocals for Emeli Sandé, Wretch 32 and Stormzy. He was also a quarter finalist on The Voice UK 2018, working with the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Olly Murs, Will.I.am and Sir Tom Jones.
All five of these talented performers made their pantomime debut in Dick Whittington at the Stag Theatre last year, and are thrilled to be returning for another Christmas in Sevenoaks!
